Dance For Saoirse!

Hi Everyone!

So sorry for the lack of updating. Winter has been a great time for the FCF. Our Giving Tuesday campaign raised over $12,000 for our Parent and Family Grant Program! We are so excited and thankful to everyone who made the event possible. We could not have done it without the amazing help of Ron and Kim Supino – and Supino’s Restaurant – who were amazing hosts!

We are excited to announce that our Spring fundraiser – Dance For Saoirse – registration is now open! This event will help the Fitzgerald Cancer Fund donate funds to a clinical trial for relapsed and refractory neuroblastoma. This trial uses T-cell technology to help kids fight neuroblastoma with their own immune systems. This less toxic therapy is showing some great promise, and wonderful results in patients who are left with no known curative options. We are excited to be working with Solving Kids Cancer on this amazing trial, and are hoping to make some great headway in it’s funding!

Join us on April 5, 2014 at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter in South Boston, MA for 12 hours of dancing to support KIDS fighting cancer! Let’s help to make treatments less toxic and let kids be kids!

Giving Tuesday

Have you heard about Giving Tuesday? In the wake of Thanksgiving, we are bombarded with shopping opportunities as retailers push for the holiday rush to start earlier and earlier each year. Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday – they are all promotions retailers use to get you in their stores for the holiday gift buying bonanza.

So after you get some great deals that weekend, do some good with the money you saved! On Tuesday, December 3rd, join us for Giving Tuesday! Donate to the Fitzgerald Cancer Fund through our online donation site on December 3rd, and we will use that money to buy gas gift cards for families with a child fighting neuroblastoma! Last year we raised $500 and gave gift cards to 20 neuroblastoma families. This year, let’s see if we can go above and beyond that amount! A $25 donation purchases one card, but any donation – from $1 to $100 – is help for families, and greatly appreciated.

Join us December 3rd for #GivingTuesday and help families Battle Neuroblastoma BETTER!

UPDATE!!

We were able to raise $650 to buy gas cards for neuroblastoma families! That means we will be sending out 26 $25 gas cards this holiday season. Thank you to everyone who helped us reach this goal! You will be giving 26 families a little extra love this holiday season.

Have you met our Neuroblastoma Kids?

Every so often, we feature a kid who has battled neuroblastoma on our webpage. We put up their picture an link to their facebook page or website. This month we are featuring Sierra! She fought a tough battle, which she lost November 23rd, 2010. Her mom is still fighting for other neuroblastoma kids, and she does great work! Check out the Sierra Rayn Foundation on facebook and read about this amazing kid and her fabulous family!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! We hope you all have a safe, fun and Spooky Holiday! Remember, the best costume to be when you’re bald, is Uncle Fester! (or Mr. Clean – he would be good too)

Woburn, Massachusetts is going GOLD for childhood cancer and hosting GOLD DAY on Thursday September 5th! The Fitzgerald Cancer Fund will be there with a table to share our story and our mission with everyone in attendance. If you are in the area, it would be great if you came on by and learned about not only what we do, but what other organizations are doing to help KIDS with cancer. We will have our wristbands and our bangle bracelets with us as well as some other fun things. We are very excited to be part of this amazing day of awareness!

Hope to see you there!
